Harvesting and Processing
The entire aloe cultivation of Pandrosia takes place on the private estates of the Drosos family in Kos, Greece. Located in the central part of the island near Pyli, these estates consist of fertile plains and fields that provide ideal conditions for organic cultivation of this miraculous plant.
Our cultivation follows strict quality control procedures in full compliance with European Economic Community standards. The organic farming practices are officially certified by the Greek Control & Certification Body for Organic Products (ΔΗΩ/DIOnet). Furthermore, all our cultivated plants are verified and certified as genuine Aloe barbadensis Miller species.
The harvesting process involves carefully selecting and removing three to six mature outer leaves from each plant. This occurs generally three times per year after the flowering period, when the leaves' beneficial compounds reach their peak concentration. Special care is taken to avoid microbial contamination through proper handling techniques during leaf removal, ensuring maximum purity and potency of our aloe vera.
Every step - from cultivation to harvest - reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of organic integrity and therapeutic quality. The Drosos family personally oversees these processes, combining traditional knowledge with modern organic certification requirements to deliver aloe vera of exceptional purity and efficacy.
The leaves are carefully harvested by gently pulling them back and making a precise cut along the white base. This meticulous technique prevents any breakage, effectively sealing the leaf and protecting it from potential contamination.
The fresh aloe gel is preserved in its purest state—never subjected to high-temperature pasteurization methods. Instead, it is simply packaged, sealed, and refrigerated. This cold-process approach ensures the gel maintains its full potency and is used according to the company's production needs and product demand.
